FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does Catalyst Edge do?
It reads SEC EDGAR filings overnight, scores each on filing type, sentiment, recency, and macro conditions, and publishes a ranked list of stocks that may move on the news before the market opens. The top picks are free every weekday; paid tiers unlock the full board.
What does the hit rate mean?
A "hit" means the stock traded at least 2% above the next session's open at some point that day. The open is the first price you could actually pay, so the measure excludes the overnight gap. A hit is not a profitable trade: it ignores entry timing, exits, fees, and slippage. Filtered rates are always shown with the filter, the sample size, and the all-picks baseline. These are historical screen statistics, not trading results.
What are the current numbers?
Tier 1 filter (score ≥ 15 + pre-market gap > 1%): 48% of 344 picks. Baseline across all 13,214 graded picks: 40%. Window: 2026-07-27 to 2026-09-22. These update automatically from the outcome ledger.
How can I check the track record myself?
Every published pick and its realized outcome, hits and misses, is committed daily to a public CSV: sec-catalyst-data on GitHub. Download it and recompute any number on this site.
Is this investment advice?
No. Catalyst Edge publishes information derived from public SEC data. It is not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, and nothing here recommends buying or selling any security. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.
What's free and what's paid?
Free: the daily top picks and the public scanner. Edge Reader ($9/mo) and Edge Pro ($39/mo) unlock more; see pricing for current details. Subscriptions renew monthly and can be cancelled online anytime, with a 14-day no-questions refund on Reader and Pro.
How do I cancel?
Online, from your account, the same way you signed up. If you cancel mid-cycle you keep access until the end of the paid period.
When is the data updated?
The pre-market build runs overnight and picks publish before 4 AM ET on weekdays, with scanner refreshes during market hours.
